Heritage Artisans Days (New Harmony)

Professional artisans share 19th century Indiana history with visitors to New Harmony each day from 9 am – 4 pm. Demonstrations include soap making, silhouette cutting, wood carving, beekeeping, silversmithing, and an interactive medical presentation by a “19th century doctor.” Sponsored by Historic New Harmony, a unified program of the University of Southern Indiana and the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.

First Brush of Spring: Art Workshops, Field to Finish Exhibit, and Paint Out (New Harmony)

Stroll through historic New Harmony and observe plein air artists creating award winning paintings. First Brush of Spring is a collaboration of the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, and the New Harmony Artists Guild.

New Harmony 4th of July Celebration (New Harmony)

New Harmony’s Fourth of July celebration dates back almost 200 years. Morning festivities include patriotic songs sung by the Community Choir, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and an address capturing the spirit of the day. The celebration continues with a decorated golf cart parade and community picnic. Sponsored by the New Harmony Kiwanis Club, the Working Men’s Institute, and Historic New Harmony.

Aurora to Rising Sun River Run (Aurora)

This event begins in Lesko Park, Aurora. This is the 6th year to enjoy this safe and leisurely 8 mile river trip with your canoe or kayak down the beautiful Ohio River. The trip starts at Lesko Park in Aurora, Indiana and goes to Rising Sun, Indiana. Enjoy the natural beauty of the Ohio River and its shoreline. Don’t forget to bring your camera! Lunch and transportation back to Aurora is provided with your registration fee.

Always the second weekend in September, is a community-pride festival. It is designed especially to draw attention to and focus on the beauty and treasure of Mt. Vernon’s part of the Ohio River. River Days includes historic demonstration and tours, food booths, vendors, activities for children, musical entertainment, concerts, a parade and fireworks. Poseyville Autumnfest (Poseyville)

An annual street festival sponsored by the Poseyville Kiwanis Club. With family entertainment, food booths, novelty item booths, and inflatables for the kids. Street Festival is held at the Poseyville Community Center on North Church Street and Fletchall. The Poseyville Autumnfest is kicked off at 6:00 am Sat. with the Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast

The largest annual event at Angel Mounds,"Native American Days" includes a traditional ceremonial dance circle. Audience members are encouraged to join the procession during several social dances.
